  • Project Type:  HVAC, Plumbing, Plan & Spec

C&R Mechanical was responsible for the 3D coordination and installation of the HVAC and Plumbing system serving the administrative offices, the 5th floor NICU, and 8th Floor PICU at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. The renovation on both floors occurred simultaneously while both floors were occupied and fully functioning where patient safety and care is critical.  On the 5th floor, the former office space in Phase 1 became the new Neonatal Intensive Care unit offering (52) patient rooms. Phase 2 encompassed renovations of back-of-house support space for the existing and new staff. On the 8th floor, the team demolished former patient rooms and built out (24) new patient rooms for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

The scope of work for this project required C&R to furnish and install HVAC, Plumbing, and Medical system. This system included (152) variable air volume (VAV) boxes, (4) silencers and air flow stations, (4) fan coil units (FCU), (496) supply and return grilles, (70) life safety dampers, hot water piping for VAV box reheat coils and supply/return/exhaust ductwork systems.  The plumbing system included providing amenities for each NICU and PICU room, showers, clean rooms, utility rooms, and public restrooms.  The medical gas system was completely deconstructed and re-installed to accommodate the new patient rooms and their layouts.
