Project Description:
C&R Mechanical was responsible for the design and installation of the HVAC system serving the production refrigeration system, work room/control room, administrative offices, and R&D area. In addition, C&R designed and self-performed the HVAC controls for the building automation system. Comprising 16,500 square feet, the FDC will include two fully equipped test kitchens and four research-chef stations; a quality lab; a lecture-hall-style instructional space for culinary-science and food-nutrition classes, conferences and demonstrations; the Simple Promise© employee café and farmers market row; and a 4,500 square-foot customized “ghost kitchen” production facility – including a state-of-the-art industrial steam oven and smoker, blast freezer, dry storage and walk-in coolers/freezers – to support limited production of test products and cooking-technique innovations.
The scope of work for this project required C&R to furnish and install HVAC system. This system included (13) variable air volume (VAV) boxes, (1) dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS), (1) make up air (MUA) unit, (3) roof top units, (1) packaged chiller, (72) supply and return grilles, (4) Electric heaters, (3) exhaust fans, hot water and utility piping for owner furnished equipment.
